Overview
Minhaj Publications India is a leading publisher and e-commerce platform offering Islamic literature and books across the globe. When they approached Makfusion, they were facing a complete digital meltdown. Their WordPress website was overwhelmed by spam, fake customers, and a bloated structure that slowed down the user experience. Multiple freelancers had mishandled the project, leading to database bloat, poor user interface, and backend vulnerabilities.
With over 10,000 spam comments, 4,600+ fake customer accounts, an outdated WPBakery-based setup, and over 130 unnecessary demo pages from the WoodMart theme, the website had become unusable. Our task was to rescue, restructure, redesign, and revive the entire digital presence — all without disrupting their ongoing online operations.
Our Process

1. Problem Diagnosis
We conducted a full audit of the website and found:
Outdated WPBakery page builder slowing down the front-end
130+ demo pages, 20+ slides, and over 20 HTML blocks imported by previous freelancers
Bloated and unoptimized database filled with spam content
Product pages lacking structure and clarity
Search functionality broken
Slow page speed (PageSpeed score: 40)

2. Safe Development Environment
To ensure uninterrupted access to the live website, we duplicated the existing site to a staging environment. This allowed us to carry out all major changes without affecting customer shopping or risking live data. This is part of our Makfusion satisfaction promise — build safely, deliver confidently.
3. Theme Cleanup & Page Builder Transition
We uninstalled the corrupted and bloated version of the WoodMart theme and reinstalled a clean version. Then, we:
Fully transitioned the site from WPBakery to Elementor, ensuring a modern, easy-to-edit backend
Imported only the required slides and templates to keep the codebase clean and lightweight
Designed a fresh homepage, about page, contact page, product layouts, and a custom header/footer using Elementor
4. Homepage & UX Redesign
We reimagined the homepage from scratch:
Category-based filters
Product sliders with detailed information for each featured product
Added banners, call-to-actions, and promotional sections
Integrated a clean, grid-style layout to enhance visual browsing
Made sure mobile responsiveness was optimized for a smooth experience on all devices
5. Shop Page & Product Display Optimization
We redesigned the shop layout to improve discoverability and conversions:
Sidebar filters by category, author, and trending products
Grid-style product listing with clean, readable tabs
Added product sliders to highlight bestsellers and latest additions
Setup logical taxonomy for author and category mapping
Improved product detail pages with structured tabs for description, reviews, and specifications
6. Database Cleanup & Security
After redesigning, we focused on cleaning up the backend:
Deleted over 10,000 spam comments
Removed more than 4,600 fake customer accounts, ensuring accurate customer targeting in future campaigns
Used Advanced Database Cleaner to remove orphaned metadata, post revisions, transients, and other clutter
This ensured the client would not waste time or money targeting fake users in email campaigns or analytics.
7. Functionality Improvements
Fixed broken search functionality with fast AJAX search integration
Added LCP product sliders instead of static image banners
Disabled Cash on Delivery (COD) under ₹600 using custom code, as per client’s request
Enabled free shipping, return/exchange info, and delivery assurance banners in the new footer
8. Performance Optimization
Installed LiteSpeed Cache, enabled object caching
Integrated CDN to serve assets globally for faster loading
Removed unused and bloated plugins
Installed Google Analytics to help track visitor flow and optimize marketing strategies
9. Deployment & Domain Setup
After rigorous testing in the staging environment, we pushed the new website to the live domain — www.minhajpublicationsindia.com. All URLs, assets, and database entries were synced. We double-checked functionality to ensure a smooth switchover with zero downtime.
